At a glance
This powder room in Ontario covers approximately 40 square feet. It took 9 months from start to finish, with a project budget of $15,000 to $20,000. Main materials: Wallpaper, porcelain tile, concrete sink.
The brief
This newly built powder room needed to be exciting and unexpected for guests. The clients had fallen for a wallpaper and wanted the whole room built around it, and the room was awkwardly shaped, with a narrow hallway entrance.
What we did
We pulled colours straight from the wallpaper. Its green led to a smooth concrete sink, and pink wall tile picks up its warmer tones. The narrow hallway became an advantage: it frames a slow reveal of the patterned back wall.
Highlights
- Client-selected wallpaper as the focal point
- Custom green concrete sink with a smooth finish
- Pink wall tile that harmonizes with the pattern
- The narrow hallway used to stage a dramatic reveal
The result
A small room with a lot of presence, and a good example of how one well-loved element can drive a whole design.
